Good News for Suspended Drivers or Those without a Driver’s License in Douglas County

Bus service ending next week; taxi rides for transit-dependent start next month As previously announced, the Town bus service – commonly referred to as CATCO – will cease operations at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 30. Next year, in lieu of funding that service, the Town will be sponsoring a reduced-fare taxi service for transit-dependent residents. That service will be available 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday starting Monday, Jan. 3. Castle Rock residents age 18 or older who have no access to a vehicle or who have a disability that prevents them from driving are eligible. In addition, 16- and 17-year-olds may be eligible for rides to work. The Town will pay a maximum of $10 per trip; passengers must pay charges in excess of that amount. Trips must originate and end within Town limits and only will be scheduled for work, medical and grocery-shopping purposes. Reservations are required and will be accepted 8 to 11:30 a.m. Monday through Friday at 720-295-TRIP (8747). Service and reservations will not be available on Town holidays. Rides are limited and available first come, first served. An application is required. Request one via the reservations line, or download one at CRgov.com/transit. In addition to the taxi service, people age 50 or older, or any adult who has a disability, may be eligible for rides through the Castle Rock Senior Center’s volunteer-based shuttle service.
